At our Gold Coast Acupuncture Clinic, we want you to feel your best by helping you achieve your desired health goals. Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a complex medical condition that targets a person’s nervous system. A person with CFS often feels tired and drained even with sufficient sleep. The fatigue is not relieved by extended rest and can be exacerbated even with low levels of physical or mental activity.
People with CFS report feelings of persistent and overwhelming exhaustion or fatigue. Other common symptoms of CFS may include:
- Disrupted sleep
- Issues concentrating
- Memory loss
- Pain in joints and muscles
- Sensitive to sounds, light, smells, and foods
- Weight gain or loss
- Flu-like symptoms
What Causes Chronic Fatigue?
The exact causes of chronic fatigue syndrome are still unknown; however, it is believed that the illness may be related to a range of genetic and environmental factors such as:
- Viral infections
- Weak immune system
- Compromised hormonal systems
- Blood pressure
Treatment for Chronic Fatigue
Acupuncture is one of the leading alternatives for treating CFS and is widely used throughout China. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), there is an energy that flows throughout the body called Qi; when this energy is blocked or disrupted, it can cause disease or illness. Using acupuncture at different body points can remove these blockages to restore energy flow and improve overall wellness and energy levels.
Treatment is often aimed at invigorating the spleen and nourishing the kidney, expelling damp heat, releasing stagnation and restoring the flow of Qi through the meridians. By balancing the Qi, Yin, and Yang, acupuncture and Chinese medicine can help alleviate symptoms of this complex disease.
Here at Haynes Acupuncture, we assess and treat patients on a case-by-case basis to ensure that our patients get the best treatment for their presenting issues.
