Anxiety and stress are feelings that virtually all of us are familiar with. Whether it be problems at work, financial troubles, relationship difficulties, an illness, or any other situation where we might feel we are outside our comfort zone, stress is a common part of human life. When we are healthy and the stress is short-lived, we are usually able to recover from stressful situations relatively unscathed. However, if stress and anxiety are prolonged and/or coupled with other emotional or physical disruptions, they begin to have serious consequences on our overall well-being.Stress adrenals

Stress served as an important survival trait during our hunter gatherer days. It affects the sympathetic nervous system, which initiates the instinctive “fight or flight” response when we are met with a dangerous or stressful situation. Today in our modern lives we don’t need to run away from tigers chasing us, so this response can give us feelings of stress and anxiety. This in turn can make our adrenals, which control a lot of the nervous system run on overdrive and burn us out.

Here at Haynes Acupuncture Gold Coast, not only do we use acupuncture, but we can also complement your treatment with the use of Chinese herbs and supplements if required. Treatments for stress and anxiety can also help to target other area’s of your body that may be out of balance. Many trials have been reviewed to find that acupuncture is effective in the management of anxiety and can complement other treatments (1).
